As an agent of EPSON products, ARGO offers miniatured Temperature-Compensation Crystal Oscillator (TCXO), in which uses QMEMS technology developed and produced by EPSON. Its size is only 1.6 x 1.2 x 0.65 mm with precision of 0.5 PPM and voltage as low as 1.8 V. It is suitable for high stability and small size applications such as GPS, RF related products.
The
full name of TCXO is Temperature-Compensated Crystal Oscillator. Generally, quartz
crystal is sensitive to temperature changes because temperature affects the accuracy
of output frequency provided by the quartz crystal. TCXO has a temperature
compensation circuit that can compensate for this change and controls the
deviation between ±2.0x 10-6 or ±0.5x10-6.

In order to respond to the miniaturization design trend of upcoming products, EPSON uses QMEMS technology to develop TCXO. QMEMS is a coinage of "QUARTZ" and "MEMS" combined. Using photolithography with quartz materials, it integrates various functions related to machinery, electronics, optics, chemistry, and others in order to produce crystal components that have benefits of high precision, high stability, high frequency, and low power consumption. TCXO can greatly reduce the size of electronic components without sacrifice their electrical characteristics, and the tolerance can reach an accuracy of ±0.5 PPM range. Thus, it is very suitable for products that concern space and accuracy such as GPS applications. |
