Output Types of Circuit Signal
|

|
Signal output is usually divided into two categories: digital signal and analog signal. Between them, CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) is the mainstream in digital signals. It has the advantages of low power consumption, high efficiency and high driving capability, making it a reliable digital signal output method. Logic level is one of the digital circuits, and there are logic potentials such as TTL, CMOS, LVTTL, LVCMOS, ECL, PECL, LVPECL, RS232, LVDS, GTL, PGTL, CML, HSTL, SSTL, etc. CMOS, TTL, and LVDS are the mainstream, usually with 0 and 1 as the logic potential. "Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor" is an integrated circuit process that can produce PMOS and NMOS components on silicon wafers. PMOS and NMOS are complementary in characteristics, so they are called CMOS. This process can be used to make digital logic circuits such as microprocessors, microcontrollers, static random access memories, etc.
CMOS circuits are logic circuits built on the same substrate using PMOS and NMOS. Moreover, the circuit composed of NMOS will obtain complementary results under the same input value. This structure is called complementary MOS. It has a relatively high input impedance, fast switching speed, and low power consumption.

LVDS (Low-Voltage Differential Signaling) is a digital signal transmission technology that transmits data at a lower voltage and a higher data rate, which is a signal transmission method proposed by National Semiconductor Corporation of the United States in 1994. It is very popular in high-speed digital systems because it provides low power consumption, high speed and strong anti-interference ability, and can stably transmit digital signals over longer distances. It is used in linear driver and receiver physical level devices and more complex interface communication chips to provide a sophisticated, high-speed, low-power LVDS interface and reduce the space occupied by the connection plug.

LV-PECL (Low-Voltage Positive Emitter Coupled Logic) has a lower voltage operating range and is usually used in high-speed data transmission and communication fields. It is controlled by a current mirror composed of two transistors, and its working principle is based on the differential amplifier method. These current sources can switch quickly to achieve the effect of high-speed transmission, and have the characteristics of low voltage, high speed, high anti-interference ability and low power consumption. However, it has the disadvantages of high power supply requirements and complex circuit design, high requirements for PCB design, sensitive to noise, and high cost.
